Summer Road Trip 2009

We left Bluffton at 3:45 am June 26th to drive to the Keefer family cabin in the mountains of Pennsylvania. We arrived about 4 pm that afternoon after a smooth trip. Over the next 3 days, we enjoyed hiking, lake swimming, fishing, family fun, frog catching, digging for worms and the great outdoors in general. Next, we spent three nights at Deb and Ken's (Dan's parents) in Hanover, PA. While there, we drove to Hershey, PA for a day of fun at Hershey Park. Halle rode her first upside down roller coaster and Mama, Daddy, Halle and James rode the Trailblazer, a wooden roller coaster. Halle and James proved to love fast rides and things that go around and around at a rapid and nauseating pace. Everyone enjoyed the tour of the chocolate factory. We all slept well after a full day at the park. Back in Hanover, we picked blueberries and spent an afternoon at a great playground with Uncle Mike, Aunt Amanda, Olivia and Meredith. Amanda took in a Zumba class with Amanda J. and Deb the last night of our trip. We traveled from PA to Lynchburg, VA for a night so Dan could attend a meeting. Amanda and the kids spent the afternoon at a great children's museum called Amazement Square in downtown Lynchburg. The kids loved seeing the trains that travel through Lynchburg. Friday, July 3, we travled 8 hours back to Bluffton. All in all, we had a perfect summer vacation.
Swim School 2009

Halle and James took eight swim lessons at the end of May at the local, indoor recreation center. They started out pretty apprehensive about the water in general and ended with a little bit of confidence and the ability to blow bubbles in the water, kick strong, and possibly even get their hair wet!
