We celebrated Halle's 6th birthday with a luau at Keefer Beach. Dan brought in over 100 pounds of sand, we set up 3 baby pools, donned our Hawaiian attire, and feasted on pizza, fruit and chocolate cupcakes with beach umbrellas on top. A princess pinata added some excitement late in the party. Aunt Alicia and Uncle Adam came from North Carolina to help us celebrate. Everyone seemed to have a blast.
Halle enthusiastically headed back to school Monday, August 16th. She has the same homeroom teacher as she did in kindergarten. She also goes next door to another favorite teacher's room for most of her academics this year. She is reading, writing and counting to 100. We are so proud of how responsible she has become.
This park was designed especially for little kids. Hayes loved the bulldozers that went around and around. He must have ridden the ride continuously for 20 minutes. Halle loved Storytime with Princess Brooke and James loved the mini roller coaster. The water park was a welcomed relief from the sweltering heat.
We spent a week in Pennsylvania with Dan's family. We started our trip at the Keefer family cabin in the moutains. Fishing, hiking, rowing a boat, and just hanging out with the family were the highlights of our mountain stay. Then, on to Dan's parents' house where the kids were "at home". Next, off to Dutch Wonderland for a day of fun and adventure. We made the long trek back home with some wonderful memories.
Halle, James, Hayes, Gram, and Amanda drove to see Aunt Alicia in Cary, NC in June. Everyone enjoyed staying at Aunt Alicia's house, torturing her cats, swimming in her pool and visiting the incredible children's museum in Durham. Thanks to AA for her hospitality.
We had one of those perfect summer storms, no thunder or lightning, just a heavy, refreshing rain. The kids had a ball playing in it. As the rain came to an end, a rainbow appeared. Smiles all around. Priceless.
We celebrated Dan's 32nd birthday by going to dinner at one of our favorite pizza places. We were able to sit outside, next to a big fountain, so the kids were entertained.
Halle, James and Hayes play well together except for the occasional mishaps. Halle and James like to play "Prince and Princess". Hayes loves to snack, and we all like to spend time together outside.
"Virtue is bold and goodness never fearful." - William Shakespeare
James delivered the above line clearly and confidently. It was a beautiful night to sit outside and watch preschoolers celebrate this amazing poet.
