We visited Bluffton Township fire station one Sunday after church. To kick off fire safety week the firefighters were offering tours of the trucks and fire station. They allowed us to come inside, sit at their big table, color in fire safety books and even sit inside the fire engines! The kids loved it.
Amanda started back to work this August. She is teaching 2nd grade at the same new school where Halle is starting kindergarten. Following tradition (since her first year of teaching) she wore camouflage duds, ordered soldier helmets for her students, and taught students to stand at "Attention." She had a successful first week of school.
Halle started kindergarten Monday, August 17th. Her school is Red Cedar Elementary and it is brand new. It is less than one mile from our house! The school is beautiful. Halle was excited to start school and came home that day with a smile on her face. We are looking forward to a wonderful year.
We spent a day out at Hunting Island State Park near Beaufort, South Carolina. We played in the ocean, collected shells and had a picnic. Halle and Dan climbed the lighthouse to the top and looked out from the observation deck. James, Hayes and Mama stayed below, the boys were too little to go up. It was a beautiful place to visit.
Halle and James rode their bikes and Hayes kicked back in his little car for the annual Bluffton Children's parade. We made two laps around the Promenade parking lot. That night Halle and James were mesmerized by fireworks as we watched from our upstairs porch at home.
